While Michelangelo was painting the Sistine chapel there were many times where he just did not want to paint the ceiling and was just tired. He was very restless and the king always wanted him to paint the celling. My favorite painting in the Sistine chapel is where god is about to reach out and touch Adams hand. I think that this is important because it is almost like God giving life to Adam. This part of the painting is amazing I like the style of how Michelangelo painted God and Adam. I also learned that this part of the painting was one of the last parts to be painted. Also the reaching out represents that Adam is receiving God’s help and blessing and God is reaching out not to help Adam but to save others.

Gladiator Watercolor

The gladiator I chose was the Dimachaerus. The Dimachaerus is a gladiator that holds two swords and is supposed to be very quick and has lightweight armor. The Dimachaerus holds curved swords in the arena. The gladiator got its name from the Greek meaning which means “carries two swords”.In the arena the Dimachaerus fought heavily armed gladiators such as the murmilliones. This gladiator does not hold a shield of any kind. I chose this gladiator because I thought it was cool how they were lightweight and that they were very quick. I also chose this gladiator because I have learned about it already in Latin class. The armor or clothing the Dimachaerus worn was canvas loin cloth and they wore sandals and also were barefoot. I think that this gladiator was very interesting because they never fought their same type of gladiator and they fought the murmilliones which were heavy gladiators.

Blog #2 - Perspective

The art that I chose is Masolino’s ‘St. Peter Healing a Cripple and the Raising of Tabitha’. I chose this photo because it illustrates perspective by looking at the people in the marketplace that’s are buying and selling. This photo shows perspective because you can see the vanishing points and the lines that go to the vanishing point. You can also see how each square is drawn facing and lining up with the vanishing point. Another cool thing about this photo is that all lines in this photo are parallel to the surface. If this drawling was not aligned and had a vanishing point then the people would not look real, instead they look very realistic. The perspective in this photo is very cool because it makes the picture come alive in a way. I also learned that most vanishing points in a picture are almost all horizontal.

Favorite Work of Art-

My favorite work of art is Starry Night by Vincent Van Gogh. This is one of my favorite pieces because it is very colorful. Van Gogh Mixed alot of colors and It really stands out. I also like this painting because it is very creative. When Van Gogh painted this piece it looks like he is drawling it ontop of the mountain because you can see high up and the mountain stands above the small village. Another reason I really like this painting is because it is drawn with pastels which is something different. I like how Van Gogh shows that it is windy outside because in the sky there is like a wave of colors that show that it is wind. The sky is also very intersting because he uses many diffrent colors and blends them together. This piece is my favorite because it is really creative and very colorful.
